Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga introduced to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs.

The postures flow together like beads on a string, or a “mala”.

Developing the practice of Ashtanga yoga needs the coordination of several foundational supports, namely: breath, asana, bandhas, drishti and vinyasa.  These supports are the basis for moving through the practice with grace and ease.

In this workshop learn to use these supports:

  • Finding ease in Surya Namaskar
  • Jumping back and forward
  • Moving from one posture to the next
  • Vinyasa between postures
